Banyan's 2012 Annual Human Resources Conference Inspires, Educates and Connects HR Professionals.

May 22, 2012 - Banyan Consulting is proud to announce the success of the 12th Annual Human Resources Conference in Hershey, PA on May 10th, 2012.

The conference sessions focused on health insurance exchanges, employee engagement, social media in the workplace and employee benefits trends.  A short session was devoted to Q&A which touched on various hot topics such as Common Law Marriage, Independent Contractor Classification, and Uniform Notice of Coverage.

Back by popular demand, Banyan's Benefits Boot Camp covered group dental, voluntary benefits and HR resources.  Participants all received a library of HR tools, templates and other reading material. The separate seminar, which ran concurrent to the conference, once again received positive feedback: "Complete and very informative - Excellent background information for persons with beginning knowledge level such as me."

New to this year’s conference were complimentary health screenings and wellness exhibits.  The dietary information and fitness, cardiovascular, thyroid, and dermascan screenings were all very well received and thought to be a great addition to the Banyan program.

Donna Cree of Ward Transport & Logistics Corp., accurately summed the very positive response to the conference: "Banyan Consulting assists our company with every aspect of our benefits program.  Their Annual HR Conference is just another example of the value-added services that are provided to keep their clients abreast of regulatory issues and current benefit trends.   As a first-time attendee, I found the conference to be very informative, as well as enjoyable, and plan to take advantage of the opportunity again in the future!"

Banyan Seminar Attendees Better Prepared for 2012

10/27/11 - Banyan Consulting’s Fall Seminar “Get Your Ducks In a Row” was held Thursday, October 27th.  The event was a huge success and the feedback received was extremely positive.

Around 80 people were in attendance and learned from experts Mark Smith of Barley Snyder LLC, Ali Carney of Banyan Consulting and Brian Elinich of Banyan Consulting.  Ali covered the new W-2 reporting regulation and what it means to employees.  She reviewed and further explained compliance timelines, options/flexibility in the calculation method, and questions to ask insurance vendors about reporting.  Mark presented on important compliance basics, reporting and disclosure requirements, and discrimination testing requirements.  Brian updated the group on health care reform provisions, state legislation on marriage and other recent heath care reform news.  When the morning came to a close, attendees left with their ducks in a row and better prepared for 2012.

Banyan Consulting would like to thank all attendees for taking part in the Fall Seminar and making this event such a success.  If you were unable to attend this informative event, stay tuned for details on a Banyan Webinar that will cover the same topics.

Banyan Human Resources Conference Continues Strong Tradition of Providing Valuable Information to HR Professionals

May 31, 2011 - Today, Banyan Consulting announced the highlights of its 11th Annual HR Conference held in Hershey, PA on May 19th 2011.  This year's conference had over 100 human resources professionals in attendance. The presentations focused on Health Care Reform, employment law, and the state of the economy. In addition, a Family Medical Leave (FML) Outsourcing panel discussion gave audience members a chance to ask questions and share best practices on a topic that is a challenge for many employers today.

A new addition to this year’s conference was Banyan's Benefit Boot Camp. The separate seminar, which ran concurrent to the conference, covered benefits areas such as group life & disability basics, medical plan funding and retirement plan fiduciary responsibility. The “camp” was designed as a learning opportunity for HR support team members and a refresher course for the more seasoned HR professional.

Here's what some conference attendees had to say about their experience:

"Excellent! FML Outsourcing was very pertinent. Great panel!"
"Out of all the conferences/seminars that I attend - this one is the best!!"
"Entire day was excellent! Thank you for the Boot Camp!"

3/4/11 - Banyan Consulting’s Health Care Reform Seminar held on Friday, March 4th has been considered a huge success with feedback from attendees being very positive.

Over 70 people attended and learned from experts Shelly Bloom, Manager of Broker Relations with Emerson, Reid, & Co. and Vince Phillips, Lobbyist for the PA Association of Health Underwriters who are right in the mix of health care reform.   They discussed the political climate change on Health Care Reform, the impact of the medical loss ratio ruling by DHHS, an overview of exchanges and recent health care reform updates. In addition, Kelly Lieblein, Vice President of Highmark detailed many smaller provisions of the legislation that will have an immediate impact on insurance companies.

In the final session, attendees heard from their peers on how they are coping with health care reform in their own organizations. A panel of local employers answered questions from the audience and shared how health care reform affected their recent renewal decisions, how those decisions were implemented, hurdles overcome and success stories.

Because of the constant changes that result from Health Care Reform, there were no handouts printed for our guests. Instead, the presenters offered the following resources:

The Department of Health and Human Services - www.hhs.gov
    Internal Revenue Service - www.irs.gov
The Kaiser Family Foundation - www.kff.org
Highmark on Health Care Reform - www.highmarkonhealthreform.com

Banyan Consulting would like to thank all attendees for taking part in the Health Care Reform Seminar and making this event such a success.
